Jeweller Joanna tempts with turquoise

Joanna Ripley just loves semi-precious rocks
Jeweller Joanna Ripley just can't resist turquoise, a semi-precious stone also favoured by the ancient Egyptians and the Aztecs.

Jo says: "I love working with turquoise. It has such a wonderful depth of colour and feel to it. It is believed to help protect one from environmental pollutants and negative energies. An extra bonus is that the colour suits all hair and skin types, making it an all-round winner!

"The pieces of turquoise I’ve used for the necklace, earrings and bracelet shown here are nugget shapes. Their organic texture and form really show the qualities of turquoise in all its natural beauty."

Jo will be showing her latest collection of  jewellery during our Winter Artweekend at 27 Queen Street, Eynsham.

Jo is wearing: turquoise necklace - £80, turquoise earrings - £20, and holding turquoise & pearl charm Bracelet - £50, citrine, smoky quartz & gold bracelet - £40.

Lorna's late summer loveliness

As the autumn rains fall, here's a reminder of late summer loveliness.

'Summer flowers on Queens Lane'
by Lorna Marrison - oil on canvas - 20cm x 15cm - £100

Lorna says: "I have been enjoying painting landscapes of Eynsham and the surrounding area. I am interested in marking the seasons as we are increasingly insulated from them as they change."

Lorna will be exhibiting her work on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November at Evenlode DIY, 27 High Street, Eynsham. Evenlode DIY is probably the best the shop in the world. With the addition of Lorna's paintings it surely will be.

Our Winter Artweekend is endorsed and supported by Oxfordshire Artweeks.

Love letter to Eynsham

The cover of Jane's map of Eynsham
In 2010 Eynsham artist Jane Tomlinson put down her paint brushes and took up pen and ink to begin a drawing by hand a map of Eynsham. Jane calls the map a 'love letter' to village; it shows history, nature, people and activities as well as roads, shops and buildings.

Since her first map, Jane has gone cartography crazy and produced four more maps of places she loves: Stanton Harcourt and Woodstock in Oxfordshire, and also of Avebury in Wiltshire and her beloved home town Stratford-upon-Avon.

"After each one I finish I say 'I'm not doing any more' but I just can't resist; they're such fun to research and draw." says Jane.

Maps are available from Jane's online shop or from the the artist during the Eynsham Winter Artweekend. Cost: folded in a colour cover (pictured) for £4.99 or flat, signed, suitable for framing for £12.99.
